Students to Present at UA Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference
The Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Conference, held March 30, is a premier annual event at The University of Alabama that provides students with the opportunity to highlight their research or creative activity. In addition to bringing attention to the outstanding work being done by UA's undergraduates, the conference allows students to gain experience presenting, become eligible for cash prizes, and form relationships with faculty mentors and fellow conference presenters. Nina Murphy-Cook of Roseville, Calif., Selected as WPI Women's Student-Athlete of the Week
Murphy-Cook led the Engineers with a .435 batting average with seven stolen bases, four walks and three RBI. The junior enjoyed a quartet of 2-for-3 performances in the eight-game stretch. She has also stolen at least one base in the last five games and totals 11 on the young season.

Gurska, Biney and Murphy-Cook Named to NFCA Division III Player of the Year Watch List
Louisville, KY --- Senior Lindsay Gurska along with juniors Ama Biney and Nina Murphy-Cook are among the Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Player of Year Top 50. Now in its second year, the watch list will be pared down as the season progresses until one player remains. Biney and Murphy-Cook have the distinction of being chosen for a second time.

Four Softball Student-Athletes Tabbed All-ECAC
Softball head coach Whitney Goldstein along with sophomore Nina Murphy-Cook, sophomore Ama Biney, senior Clare Doolin and junior Lindsay Gurska were recognized by the ECAC for their on-field performance in 2016. Goldstein was named the ECAC Division III Softball Coach of the Year while Murphy-Cook, Biney and Doolin were named All-ECAC first teamers and Gurska headlined the second team.

WPI sophomore Nina Murphy-Cook (Roseville, CA) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Second Team. The selections were revealed at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship banquet.

Softball's Biney and Murphy-Cook Repeat as NFCA All-New England First Team Honorees
Senior Clare Doolin (Newton, MA), junior Lindsay Gurska (Revere, MA), sophomore Nina Murphy-Cook (Roseville, CA) and sophomore Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England First Team, as announced Monday. Freshman Caraline Wood (Averill Park, NY) made the list as a third teamer. All five were previously honored by the NEWMAC with All-Conference nods.

Gurska and Goldstein Garner NEWMAC Softball Major Awards; Five Named All-NEWMAC
Junior Lindsay Gurska (Revere, MA) and head coach Whitney Goldstein became the first from WPI to be named the NEWMAC Softball Athlete of the Year and NEWMAC Softball Coach of the Year, as voted upon by the league's head coaches. Gurska was joined on the first team by sophomore Nina Murphy-Cook (Roseville, CA) and senior batterymate Clare Doolin (Newton, MA). Sophomore Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) and freshman Caraline Wood (Averill Park, NY) were named to the second team.

Nina Murphy-Cook of Roseville, Calif., Collects 2015 NFCA Division III Golden Shoe Award
The NFCA Golden Shoe award is presented annually to the player determined to be the most outstanding base stealer from an NFCA member institution in each of the following divisions: NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), NAIA, NJCAA (Divisions I, II and III), Cal JC, NWAACC and high school. A committee comprised of elected head coaches in each of the 10 represented divisions selects the winner of their respective award.
